Utah’s status as a legal innovator was further cemented May 7, when amendments to the state’s groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence Policy Act went into effect. Senate Bill 226, SB 332, and House Bill 452 explicitly create compliance requirements for licensed professionals—including attorneys—who use AI systems in a professional capacity.
This is a helpful development for lawyers, who have struggled with generative AI usage—and have been sanctioned for improperly using it.
