ANALYSIS: Why Same Sectors Lead, Lag in GHG Emissions Management

In recent years, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have been at the forefront of corporate ESG and climate-related risk policies, despite the relatively low number of companies disclosing these emissions.

But the SEC’s forthcoming rule on climate-related risks and reports on climate change are providing additional incentives for US-based companies to get up to speed on emissions disclosures.

During my analysis of top performing companies on Bloomberg’s GHG emissions management issue score, I noticed a discrepancy: Several sectors had some of the top scoring companies, but also some of the lowest.
