BetterHelp Beats Loews Insurer on Defense Costs in Privacy Suit

A Loews Corp. insurance unit is on the hook for BetterHelp Inc.'s legal defense costs in a proposed class action alleging the online counseling service disclosed consumer health information to third parties without consent.

Columbia Casualty Co. must defend the Teladoc Health Inc. subsidiary because at least one of the claims in the underlying suit triggers coverage, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said in a Wednesday order granting judgment on the pleadings to BetterHelp.
