Judges Win Dismissal of Inquiry Over Clerk Accused of Racism

A federal judicial council won’t revisit its dismissal of a complaint against two federal judges over the hiring of a law clerk who allegedly texted “I hate Black people.”

The Second Circuit Judicial Council’s Oct. 31 orderfollowed arguments made by Chief Judge William Pryor of the Eleventh Circuit and US District Judge Corey Maze of the Northern District of Alabama, that the federal judiciary’s Judicial Conduct and Disability Committee had exceeded its authority in saying a special committee should look further into the judges’ conduct.
