Live Nation Ruled Illegal Monopoly
A New York federal jury found Live Nation liable for illegally monopolizing the live events industry, siding with a coalition of 33 states and Washington, DC, after a six-week trial, Leah Nylen, Patricia Hurtado, and Chris Dolmetsch report.
Jurors concluded that Live Nation dominated markets for ticketing services, concert promotion, and amphitheater venues, and unlawfully tied access to its venues to its promotion business. The jury also determined that the company’s conduct led fans to overpay by about $1.72 per ticket.
