Shopify’s Jurisdictional Win in Data Privacy Case Reversed (2)

Shopify‘s success in fending off a California consumer data privacy lawsuit on jurisdictional grounds was reversed by a federal appeals court Monday.

An 11-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit revived a lawsuit by an online consumer who alleged Shopify Inc., a Canadian platform that provides back-end software for online merchants, illegally installed cookies on his browser to track shopping activity.
