Cigna Faces Suit Over Reimbursements for Covid-19 Testing Costs

Cigna Health & Life Insurance Co. failed to fully reimburse health plan participants’ Covid-19 testing costs in violation of federal law, according to a proposed class action complaint filed in federal court in New York.

Jeremy Hockenstein says he paid $250 for a Covid test in January but received only $51.31 in reimbursement from Cigna. In his communications with Cigna, the insurer claimed to have negotiated a “discount” on his behalf while ignoring his assertions that he was forced to pay the full testing cost out of pocket, Hockenstein says.
