A group of 9,000 Georgia car insurance policyholders won preliminary approval of a $2.23 million proposed settlement with a United Services Automobile Association unit over claims the insurer underpaid the drivers for replacement taxes on totaled cars.
Judge Leigh Martin May of the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia also granted the policyholders’ bid Monday to certify the class for settlement purposes, allowing the case to move forward.
