HBO Max Subscriber Drops Video-Privacy Lawsuit Against Warner

A consumer dropped his proposed class action alleging WarnerMedia Direct LLC shared the viewing histories of subscribers to its HBO Max streaming service with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Judge Gregory H. Woods of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York granted lead plaintiff Sheldon Eng’s request to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit on Thursday. Eng filed his notice of dismissal two days after Woods had granted WarnerMedia’s request for leave to file a motion to dismiss the suit.
