Volvo Car USA LLC and a former paint shop worker have resolved litigation alleging the automaker’s hourly workers weren’t compensated for off-the-clock activities required before and after their shift.
The parties notified the US District Court for the District of South Carolina of their settlement Wednesday, noting that an agreement will be ready for judicial review by Nov. 10. Antonio Gardenhire sued Volvo under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage law in January over unpaid time, during which he and similarly-situated workers were required to perform pre-and post-shift activities.
