Chemical Plant Worker Sues to Get Paid for Putting on Equipment

A former chemical plant worker sued BASF Corporation for failing to pay overtime wages for time spent putting on and taking off safety equipment, claiming the company violated federal and Ohio wage laws.

Jason Diehl worked as a material handler at BASF’s Greenville, Ohio facility from 2012 until August 2025, according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The Fair Labor Standards Act requires employers to pay overtime rates for hours worked beyond 40 per week. The Ohio Wage Act contains similar requirements.
