Italy puts on hold payments due from residents and businesses in towns that are subject to containment measures for stopping the spread of coronavirus, according to a statement from the country’s finance ministry.

Roberto Gualtieri applies to payments due between Feb. 21 and March 31 - Measures apply to 10 towns in Lombardy region and one in Veneto
- Decree does not apply to Milan
- Gualtieri also reached agreement with banking association to suspend mortgage payments in the area, he told TG1 television, according to
