A ruling in favor of six California cities seeking $1.2 million in sales tax revenue from jet fuel solidifies the state’s position in similar disputes with cities that split revenue with major retailers.
The city of Fillmore has already sued the California Office of Tax Appeals in an attempt to block the opinion, posted Monday, that most of the money must go to the cities of Los Angeles, Ontario, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Jose, and Sacramento. Those six cities have airports. Fillmore does not, but it did contain an office where jet fuel sales in 2007 were assigned. ...
