Taxpayers that have filed their returns using the IRS free electronic filing tool have so far claimed more than $30 million in refunds and saved millions in filing fees, a Treasury Department official said Friday.
The response from Americans who have used Direct File is “overwhelmingly strong” as the agency hears from users in its customer survey, the official said.
