Georgia Amends Income Tax Code, Exempts USDA Farmer Assistance Payments

The Georgia Governor signed a law amending the state’s income tax code to exempt from state taxation certain payments received under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farmer Bridge Assistance Program and Assistance for Specialty Crop Farmers Program. The law provides a subtraction from taxable income for individuals, corporations, and partnerships for tax years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2025, subject to federal inclusion and specified reporting requirements.
