Michigan Enacts Marijuana Excise Tax for Road Funding

The Michigan Governor signed a law establishing a 24 percent excise tax on the wholesale price of sales, transfers, or aggregate amount or quantity of marihuana cultivated. The new tax applies to marijuana establishments, provisioning centers, and retail licensees, beginning Jan. 1, 2026. [H.B. 4951, enacted 10/07/25]
