The Securities and Exchange Commission has named J. Russell McGranahan as its new general counsel as the agency weighs an ambitious regulatory agenda this year under Chairman Paul Atkins.
Acting General Counsel Jeffrey Finnell will stay at the agency as deputy general counsel, according to the SEC’s press release.
McGranahan previously had a stint as the top lawyer at the General Services Administration to start President Donald Trump’s second term.
