UK Targets Lawyers, Bankers in Fresh Anti-Corruption Drive

UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy vowed to root out “corrupt actors” as the UK unveiled a new strategy targeting bankers, accountants and lawyers as part of a drive to slash the tens of billions of pounds that’s laundered through Britain every year.

The strategy aims to “shut out corrupt actors, disrupt dirty money and restore integrity in public life,” the Home Office said on Monday in a statement. The strategy put £15 million ($20 million) toward a specialist police taskforce, and set out plans to expand sanctions and to trial an AI bot that will assist corruption investigations.
