Autoworker Union Joins Suit Challenging Trump Gold Card Program

The United Auto Workers have signed onto litigation brought by a university faculty group challenging the Trump administration’s gold card visa program which allows immigrants to obtain permanent residency in the US for a $1 million payment.

The union, which represents auto workers and about 120,000 higher education workers, said it was joining the lawsuit because the gold card program illegally allows ultra wealthy immigrants to gain permanent residency over the union’s qualified members, according to the amended complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
