Chicago Seeks New CFO, Warns of Layoffs After Budget Battle (1)

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said he is confident the city will find a new finance chief and warned of possible layoffs by mid-year after a budget battle fueled concerns about revenue shortfalls.

Jill Jaworski, Chicago’s chief financial officer, is stepping down to join a nonprofit organization next month. The departure comes shortly after members of the city council passed an alternative budget that didn’t have the mayor’s blessing.
