Health-Care Workers Land Class Status for Louisiana Wage Claims

Workers at a Louisiana health facility can pursue wage claims as a class after demonstrating that common issues outweigh individual ones and group treatment is superior to other litigation options.

The workers last year showed that they meet most of the requirements of class certification, but the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana held off on determining whether they satisfied predominance and superiority requirements. New details about how they plan to try the case allowed the court to sign off on class status for their state-law claims, Judge Susie Morgan said Tuesday.
