An intersex middle school teacher accused a Florida school district of unlawfully firing him because it viewed him as being transgender.
St. Johns County School District, which knew Shepard Scalf’s gender identity is male and that he was assigned female at birth, gave no reason for axing him just weeks into the 2025-2026 school year, according to Scalf’s discrimination charge filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
