A lawsuit alleging the National Football League disclosed consumers’ video-watching habits to Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act was properly dismissed, a federal appeals court affirmed Friday.
The league’s disclosure of consumers’ information didn’t violate the Act because the data wasn’t transmitted in a form that an ordinary person could use to identify a person’s video-viewing habits, the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said.
