House Republicans are escalating pressure on the Biden-Harris administration to intervene in a major port strike, which has raised concerns about price increases and delays to consumer goods in the aftermath of a major hurricane and the run-up to US elections.
Top members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee urged President Joe Biden in a letter sent Tuesday to step in using the Taft-Hartley Act, a federal law limiting union powers. The act would allow Biden to restore operations and bring parties back to the negotiating table, they said.
