SeaWorld’s $1.25 Million 401(k) Deal Gets Court Nod After Hiccup

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Inc. workers secured preliminary court approval for a $1.25 million class settlement aimed at resolving litigation over their 401(k) plan’s fees and investments.

Judge Robert S. Huie signed the preliminary approval order Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of California, saying the workers adequately responded to his April order questioning how they calculated their maximum possible recovery in the case at $10.8 million. But he cautioned the workers that their request for attorneys’ fees totaling 35% of the settlement might not be approved without a showing of “special circumstances” warranting a departure ...
