Sierra Club Doesn’t Have Standing in LNG Export Approval Suit

The Sierra Club lacks standing to challenge the Energy Department’s approval of a facility’s increased liquefied natural gas exports, a federal appeals panel said Tuesday.

The ruling brings an end to the group’s two federal lawsuits alleging the US Department of Energy wrongly denied it a rehearing over its objections to the LNG export increase. The club alleged the Energy Department violated the Natural Gas Act as well as the National Environmental Policy Act by not allowing them to raise its objections.
