The chair of the women and gender studies department at Texas Woman’s University must face allegations that she discriminated against a tenured professor for criticizing “woke” ideology.
Taking Vivian Casper’s allegations as true, the chair’s action in blocking her nomination to be considered for emeritus status “after she expressed her position on ‘woke’ ideology violated Plaintiff’s First Amendment rights as a professor,” Judge Amos L. Mazzant III of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas said in a Jan. 30 order.
