President Joe Biden announced plans to nominate two veteran federal prosecutors and a state court judge as US trial court judges.
Mary Kay Costello, an assistant US attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since 2008, is the intended nominee for a seat on that court, the White House said Wednesday. Costello previously worked as an associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld from 2004 to 2008.
Laura Margarete Provinzino, an assistant US attorney in the District of Minnesota since 2010, would serve in the same district. She had worked at Robins Kaplan from 2006 to 2010.
Noël Wise, a judge on the Superior Court of California in Alameda County, would serve on the Northern District of California. She previously worked as in-house counsel for Pacific Gas and Electric Company and as of counsel at Stoel Rives.
All three planned nominees are in states with two Democratic senators. Republicans have signaled an increasing unwillingness to cooperate with the Biden administration on judicial nominations in advance of the November election.
