White House Reviewing OSHA Update to Chemical Warning Label Rule

The White House is reviewing OSHA’s proposal to update requirements for what warning information chemical and other hazardous material manufacturers and distributors must include on packaging.

If approved the final rule would bring Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements in line with recent international hazard communication guidance from the United Nations (RIN:1218-AC93).

OSHA last updated its rule in 2012 and there have been several UN guideline changes in the past 11 years.

The White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs received the final rule changes on Wednesday and hasn’t set a date for completing its review.
