Amtrak to Study Limited Metro-North Service into Penn Station

In response to delays in a $2.9 billion project to expand New York City commuter rail service into Penn Station, Amtrak’s president said he would consider a proposal to fill in the gap and start limited train runs in the East Bronx in 2027.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the Metro-North Railroad, announced on Monday that it was pushing back the completion date for its Penn Access project by three years, until 2030, and sent a letter to Amtrak, proposing a way to start limited service to some of the stops involved in the plan in the ...
