Meta Employee Can Pursue Lawsuit Over Transgender Care Coverage

A transgender Meta Platforms Inc. employee advanced her lawsuit seeking coverage for clavicle shortening, scapular spine shaving, and rib remodeling from the social media company’s health plan.

The company’s health plan covers “reconstructive procedures intended to feminize the body” if certain conditions are met, which would appear to include all of the employee’s requested procedures, Judge Michael H. Simon said. He declined to dismiss the employee’s lawsuit in an opinion issued Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Oregon.
