United Healthcare ALS Coverage Suit Dropped Given Poor Health

An ALS patient who accused United Healthcare Services Inc. of wrongly refusing to cover noninvasive ventilators dropped his proposed class action, citing a severe decline in his health.

United and the patient announced they’d agreed to dismiss the case in a joint stipulation filed Monday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The filing comes nearly two months after they asked to put the case on hold because of a “decline in health so severe” that the patient can no longer serve as the case’s named plaintiff.
