New regulations released Tuesday by the Department of Homeland Security will remove obstacles for workers on temporary seasonal visas to seek permanent residency in the US and allow them to change jobs with fewer restrictions.
The rules (RIN 1615-AC76), which will take effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register on Wednesday, also include a number of worker safeguards, including provisions cracking down on illegal fees charged to workers on those visas and whistleblower protections for workers who report abuses by employers.
