Canada Will Review US Minerals Deals Carefully, Minister Says

Canada needs to assess US government investments in the country’s critical minerals companies on a “case-by-case basis” at a time when the Trump administration is pursuing a nationalist economic policy, Industry Minister Melanie Jolysaid.

“What we’re seeing in the US is definitely the emergence of greater economic nationalism, including the government taking stakes in companies,” Joly told media Friday at an event in Montreal. “All governments in the world need to adapt to that, so we will do so as well.”
