DuPont, Corteva Can Be Held Liable for State PFAS Contamination

Modern-day subsidiaries and spinoffs of chemicals manufacturer E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. can be held liable for alleged PFAS contamination linked to E.I. du Pont, a North Carolina business court found.

The Cumberland County Superior Court’s business division on Wednesday granted the state’s request for partial summary judgment on the issue of whether DuPont de Nemours Inc. and Corteva assumed E.I. du Pont’s liability associated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a class of chemicals linked to health risks.
