Roughly a dozen governors across the political spectrum called on Congress Wednesday to reform federal regulatory and permitting processes related to energy infrastructure, citing a need to meet growing electricity demand.
The group, co-chaired by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), proposed ideas for reforming the National Environmental Policy Act and the Clean Water Act and also suggested streamlining reviews from federal agencies, tweaking the process for considering interstate energy transmission projects, and making changes to nuclear energy regulation, according to the National Governors Association.
