Oil Groups Lose Bid to Move Suit Over Offshore Impacts Review

Chevron USA Inc., the American Petroleum Institute, and other trade groups interested in offshore energy policy lost their bid to move to a more favorable venue an endangered species lawsuit over federal approval of oil industry activity in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chevron and the other parties, which intervened on behalf of the Trump administration, can’t transfer the case from the US District Court for the District of Maryland because the biological opinion being challenged was drafted at the National Marine Fisheries Service’s headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., the court ruled Monday.
