Three former Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative officers and executives found guilty in 2021of misusing CMEEC funds to pay for luxury vacations lost their Second Circuit appeals on Friday.
Former CEO Drew Rankin, former board chairperson James Sullivan, and former board member John Bilda were each convicted of one count of theft involving a program receiving federal funds. Their convictions were based on funds misappropriated in 2015 to pay for four luxury trips with family and friends, which prosecutors said were disguised as corporate retreats but provided no legitimate benefit to CMEEC.
