Trump Voices Support for Gas Tax Holiday
President Donald Trump voiced support for a federal gasoline tax holiday to counter rising prices at the pump.
Trump told reporters at the White House that he’ll seek to suspend the 18.4-cents-a-gallon tax “until it’s appropriate.”
The president’s move comes after several Democrats have proposed federal gas tax holidays. and Republican Sen. Josh Hawley introduced a bill for a 90-day pause. At the state level, leaders in Georgia, Indiana, and Utah have temporarily waived or lowered gas taxes, and lawmakers in Alabama, New York, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina have called for similar measures. ...
