US Pulls Support at IMF for Climate Lending Bashed by Bessent

The US has stopped supporting climate-linked lending at the International Monetary Fund, casting “no” votes or abstentions on financing programs it had previously backed, after the Trump administration signaled a shift in priorities.

In 12 IMF Executive Board votes since President Donald Trump took office last year, the US has declined to support new or existing credit facilities under the Resilience and Sustainability Trust, according to US Treasury data that covers meetings through September last year.
