Business groups urged California lawmakers on Monday to scrap reauthorizing the state’s cap-and-trade greenhouse gas emissions reduction program before adjourning on Sept. 12.
Lawmakers are trying to extend the 12-year-old program even though it doesn’t expire until 2030.
Trade groups, including the California Chamber of Commerce, issued a statement that lawmakers should continue discussions into next year rather than pushing for a last-minute vote on a renewal.
