Labor Department Stops In-House Judge Proceedings in Shutdown

The Labor Department has suspended all administrative hearings and procedural deadlines in pending cases for whistleblowers, migrant worker certifications, and minimum wage disputes until Congress reaches a deal to fund the government.

DOL Office of Administrative Law Judges’ employees—who make up the third-largest ALJ office in the US government—are not authorized to work during the funding lapse, Chief Administrative Law Judge Stephen R. Henley said in a memo.

This means all OALJ proceedings, including formal hearings and pre-hearing conferences, are canceled. Filing deadlines for specific motions in ongoing cases are paused. OALJ will also not accept any new filings. ...
