Portland, Maine, Votes to Raise Minimum Wage to $19 by 2028

The hourly minimum wage in Portland, Maine, will rise to $16.75 for calendar year 2026, under a ballot measure voters approved Nov. 4.

The minimum wage will subsequently rise to $17.75 for 2027 and to $19 for 2028, under the ballot measure. Starting in 2029, the minimum wage will be adjusted based on any increases to the cost of living.

The ballot measure was approved with about 62.7% of the vote, according to unofficial election results.
