Sole Safety Review Commissioner Retires, Halting Panel Functions

The remaining commissioner to the independent agency that hears appeals to OSHA citations has retired, leaving nearly three dozen workplace safety cases postponed indefinitely.

The US Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission announced on X.com Monday that its sole commissioner, Chair Cynthia Attwood, was retiring. Her third term expired April 27.

Attwood’s departure will leave at least 32 cases languishing, as at least two commissioners are required for OSHRC to make a final decision in those cases.
