The US Supreme Court denied review Monday in two cases that challenged bans on gender-affirming care for minors.
The move comes after a majority of the justices recently upheld Tennessee’s law precluding the use of puberty blockers, cross-hormone therapy, and surgery to treat gender dysphoria in people under 18 against an equal protection challenge. The top court said the provision didn’t facially discriminate against trans youth because it distinguished between them and cisgender patients receiving the same treatments based on different diagnoses, not the person requesting the care.
