Ford-Backed EV Plant Is UAW’s First 2025 Target in the South (1)

Workers at a Ford Motor Co.-backed electric vehicle plant have petitioned to unionize with the United Auto Workers, the union announced, calling it the UAW’s first major filing in the South this year.

UAW will seek to organize employees at the BlueOval SK facility in Glendale, Ky., a joint venture between Ford and South Korea’s SK On that’s expected to start producing EV batteries this year.

The union’s push is the latest in its $40 million campaign to bring EV workers under a more generous master agreement negotiated in 2023 with Detroit automakers.
