Amazon, Other Retailers Dodge NY Whistleblower’s Tax Allegations

Amazon.com Inc., Best Buy Co., Target Corp., and Adorama Inc. are off the hook for whistleblower claims that their price discounts cheated New York out of sales tax after a state appeals court held Tuesday that a prior ruling precludes the allegations.

Whistleblower RD Litigation Associates LLC alleges that the retailers owe millions of dollars in sales tax on manufacturer discounts they passed on to consumers in a bid to gain a price advantage over competitors.
