Insect Shield LLC and the estate of its co-owner will pay $1.4 million to settle a False Claims Act lawsuit alleging the company billed the US Department of Defense for Army uniforms that lacked adequate insect repellent.
Whistleblower Emelia Downs, who sued in 2019, will get a $315,000 share of the settlement, the US Department of Justice said in a Wednesday press release.
