Most military construction work is concentrated in districts that support defense readiness in the Indo-Pacific region, according to Bloomberg Government analysis.
More than one-fourth of Defense Department construction materials and services procurement spending since fiscal 2016 occurred in ten congressional districts, led by Guam and Hawaii’s 1st district.
Indo-Pacific policy remains key to Pentagon plans, most recently updated in last week’s publication of the National Security Strategy.
Procurement with a place of performance in Guam grew to $1.4 billion in fiscal 2024, an 852% increase from fiscal 2016 spending levels and largely funded by the Department of the Navy.
