BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 5371, FY 2026 Stopgap Funds to Nov. 21

Government funding would be extended through Nov. 21 under H.R. 5371, a continuing resolution for fiscal 2026.

The seven-week stopgap funding measure, or CR, would generally extend current fiscal 2025 funding levels for federal agencies and programs, preventing a government shutdown when the new fiscal year starts Oct. 1.

It also would extend several expiring authorities through Nov. 21, including programs such as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program and National Flood Insurance Program that were tied to previous funding extensions, and provide supplemental funds for security for federal officials.
